When is Hermes the right call?
You want one assistant that follows you across Telegram, Slack and the terminal, you run it yourself, and it learns as you go.
When do you need a runtime instead?
Your product calls agents, you serve several customers, and you need per-tenant memory, usage limits and policy outside the model.
What about OpenClaw?
It is the older personal assistant in this category. Comparison articles report repeated security issues in 2026, so check its advisories before exposing it.
